Marc Hoffman to perform at new Salisbury Bistro & Martini Bar
June 5, 2012 (Charlotte, NC) – Jazz pianist/composer/vocalist Marc Hoffman will perform this Friday, June 8th with his duo and Saturday, June 9th as a soloist at Ethos Southern Bistro & Martini Bar in downtown Salisbury. Marc will be joined on upright bass by Victor Sams.
Hoffman and his duo, trio, and quartet are well known in the Charlotte area for their appearances at jazz clubs, concerts, and other special events, most recently at the Pewter Rose in Charlotte as part of the Sai Jazz Series. Marc has performed nationally and internationally for music festivals corporate and private events, and has entertained crowds at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston SC; Speedway Motorsports Inc. and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, both in Charlotte; the Annual Old Town Blues & Jazz Festival in Rock Hill, SC; and the Grove Park Inn in Asheville.
Ethos Southern Bistro & Martini Bar is located at 118 N. Main St in Salisbury, NC. The menu features southern favorites with a twist, and infused martinis along with full bar selection.
“It’s great to play in my hometown once in a while and I’m especially excited to be performing at Ethos,” Hoffman says. “Thanks to Josh Wainright for the invitation.”
For this performance Marc will feature tunes from his latest CD, Curioso and a mix of original jazz and standards.
Marc’s recent performances include at Ashe Civic Center in W. Jefferson, NC, and an invitation-only concert in Charleston, SC. Other recent work includes composing the score for the feature film “40 Fears” for Charlotte-based Dalliance Films. The film will have it’s theatrical release later in 2012. Previous film work includes the score for “The Mill”. Marc has been music supervisor for several films and was music historian for the film, “Revolution”.

About Marc Hoffman:
Marc Hoffman received a degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied film composition at USC. He also attended The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included John Corigliano, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, and Sherwood Shaffer. Marc performs across the US and abroad, as a soloist and with his jazz trio. A member of BMI and the American Composer’s Forum, he is also founder and artistic director of the Salisbury School of Music. Marc lives in Salisbury, NC with is wife, Anne, and their daughter August.
