October 28, 2010 (FAYETTEVILLE, NC) – Jazz composer Marc Hoffman and his new, all-original CD Curioso have captured the attention DJ Dionne Maldonado, the radio host for the show “Cool Ambiance,” on NPR station WFSS (91.9 FM) at Fayetteville State University. Maldonado, also known as “The Jazz Lady,” is spinning tracks from the CD during her show, which airs Saturdays from 7 p.m. until 12 a.m.
“I loved this CD,” Maldonado said. “Every track! I’m overjoyed to include Curioso and to front sell Marc as one of North Carolina’s artists to look out for in 2011. He’s right up there with Tom Grant.”
To support the airtime, Hoffman recorded liners – a phrase or sentence that introduces a CD or individual song – and public service announcements that Maldonado is using during the station’s fall membership drive.
“I worked in radio as a teenager,” Hoffman said, “so it was really fun to do this sort of thing again.”
Released by Virillion Music in August, Curioso is a compilation of various jazz tunes Hoffman wrote over two years, representing as many styles of jazz as there are tracks on the CD. His inspirations for various tracks range from Neal Hetfi to David Benoit and Jean Luc Ponty. The first airtime Curioso received was on WWOZ in New Orleans.
The CD is available on iTunes, Amazon.com and CDBaby. For more information on Curioso and Marc Hoffman, visit www.marchoffman.com.
