Marc Hoffman wrote his “Music Is…” program while he was a student at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He presents it mostly to school-age children. In the course of one class period, he explains the construction of a piece of popular music as opposed to a classical piece. The objective is to teach that the long and short forms in music have the same basic building blocks. This interactive and fast-paced program is a great deal of fun for the audience as well as the presenter! It is well received by music and non-music classes.
